Cowboy is the lightest electric bike with a removable battery.
Cowboy's removable battery is easy for urban riders. Riders detach the battery, bring it inside and plug it into any electrical outlet. Riders who have a bike without a removable battery must bring their entire bike indoors. This is far more difficult.
We specifically designed the removable battery to be integrated seamlessly into the bike's frame. We did this on purpose to disguise the fact that the bike is electric. In a way, we designed the entire bike around the design of the removable battery.
Up-to-70 km of autonomy
Cowboy's electric battery offers up-to-70 km of riding autonomy. Cowboy riders, according to our data, use the bike approximately 5km per trip, on average, eight times per week. So, riders can enjoy a week's worth of commuting on one battery recharge.
3.5 hours to fully recharge
Cowboy's battery recharges in 3.5 hours. After this full, charging time, you can enjoy up-to-70 km of biking autonomy.
How does our battery work?
We use the latest generation of 21700 Lithium Ion cells, a first in Europe for electric bikes. This new technology offers one-half more battery life than conventional 18650 cells. These cells feature the highest energy density at the smallest size and lowest weight on the market. The advanced cell protection features cell balancing and an intelligent BMS. These ensure the greatest battery life and most reliable operation.
Our riders enjoy real-time battery health information via the data on their dashboard.
What is the exact autonomy I can get from my battery?
The exact autonomy you will reach depends on the way you use your bike. Our battery offers a range of up-to-70 km under normal conditions. Such conditions include riding in a soft wind, riding on a good asphalt road with a few, soft inclines. If you are riding in a hilly environment or have to start and stop every few hundred metres, the battery will run out faster.
Other factors can also impact the bike's autonomy. These factors include the bike + rider weight and the temperature outside. Riding in the off-road mode also consumes more energy and will reduce the battery's range.
How long does it take to charge my battery?
It takes 3.5 hours to charge your battery from 0 to 100%. The rate of charging is linear and is not faster or slower at the end. The charger can deliver more than 100W of power and charges the battery with 3A.
You should always charge the battery indoors and on a non- flammable surface. Further, charging should be in a location away from the sun in a room with ambient temperature. You should also keep your charger away from moisture and water at all times.
How to extend your battery's lifespan?
We manufactured the battery to support 500 charge cycles. One full battery recharge equals one charge cycle. This can happen either in a single session or several partial charging sessions.
What happens if you surpass 500 charge cycles?
After that time, you will still get 70% of the battery's original autonomy.
There are techniques you can use to maximize the lifetime of your battery. For example, we recommend to avoid discharging your battery to zero before a recharge. If you can manage to keep your battery above 10% all the time, you will extend its lifespan by a factor of two. Lithium Ion batteries like the ones in The Cowboy bike do not suffer from memory effect. Thus, there is no reason to wait until the battery is empty to recharge it.
A tip: don't allow your battery to be fully discharged for a long period of time. Doing so will diminish your battery's capacity and reduce your autonomy. Keep your battery charged.
